PricePing is built to be simple and transparent. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you sign in, we receive your name and email address from your sign-in provider. This is used solely to create and identify your account.
Products you track
When you add a product, we store the product name, the retailer links you provide, any price target you set, and your check frequency preference.
Price history
Each time we check a price, we record the price, currency, and timestamp. This data powers your price history charts and helps you understand price trends over time.
Notification preferences
We store your email address for notifications, your timezone, and your per-product notification settings (enabled or disabled).
2. How We Use Your Information
- To check prices on your behalf at the frequency you choose.
- To send you email alerts when prices drop or reach your target price.
- To display your product dashboard, price history, and statistics.
- To authenticate you securely via Google OAuth.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Third-Party Services
PricePing relies on trusted third-party providers to operate. Each provider receives only the minimum data necessary to perform their specific function.
Sign-in provider
We use a third-party sign-in service to verify your identity. No personal data is shared with this provider beyond what is required to authenticate you.
Email delivery
Your email address is passed to an email delivery service solely to send you price alert notifications. It is not used for any other purpose.
Cloud storage
Your account data, tracked products, and price history are stored securely with a cloud infrastructure provider. Data is not shared with or accessible by other customers.
4. How We Check Prices
To retrieve prices on your behalf, PricePing automatically visits the product pages you add. We only access publicly available pages and do not interact with any account-protected areas of retailer websites. We do not store any content from retailer pages beyond the detected price and availability status.
5. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as you have an active account. Older price history entries may be periodically cleaned up to keep the service running smoothly. If you delete a product, all associated data — including price history and notifications — is permanently removed. If you close your account, all data associated with it is deleted.
6. Security
Your data is stored securely with access controls in place. All communication between your browser and our service is encrypted in transit. We use a third-party sign-in provider for authentication — we never store your password.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you — your dashboard shows all tracked products and their history.
- Delete any product and all its associated data at any time from your dashboard.
- Disable email notifications per product or globally in your settings.
- Request full account deletion by contacting us.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy as the service evolves. We will update the date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of Deal Watcher after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
